HAPPINESS

Sunday our kids made a sign for us to hang over the enterance to our garden.  It is to remind us that happiness can be found in many different places.  We found happiness right in our back yard.  Working together, all six of us, we have grown a nice 1800 sq. ft. garden that will give us tons of food.  I love that our kids can see the fruits of their labor, literally.

Erin’s duet at the Spring Program

So my friends and family can enjoy her along with us.  For those who don’t know, Erin is the second one to sing (with the blond hair).  I’m sorry they didn’t have her microphone up at first, but they got it fixed fairly quickly.

I know I’m her dad, and because of that I’m biased, but Erin sang before she talked.  Her barbies would sing to one another when she played as a child.  She constantly has music playing and I love to stand outside her door when she doesn’t know I’m there so I can hear her singing.

When she was two she told us she was going to be a “Sing like a woman woman” when she grew up.  I hope she gets to fulfill that dream.

Zach, Senior 2009

Zach has one killer look.  He has a great smile, but he possesses one of the most intense serious looks we’ve seen in a long time.  His sister has been telling me for over a year that we had to shoot his senior portraits ….. so Kim, here are a few of them.

Ian’s first t-ball game

He’s been practicing and practicing and practicing … and finally he got to actually play.  Last night was his first t-ball game and I think it meant as much to me as it did to him.  I remember taking Conner to his first game and now we’ve reached the point that our youngest has suited up and grabbed a bat.

His first swing wasn’t too successful, but the next swing connected and he made it to first base and eventually back to home plate.  He wasn’t too sure what to do once he had made it home and the truth be told, I think hanging on to the T was just the logical thing to do until Coach Kyle gave him more instructions.

We had a blast…. and so did Ian.

Me… Today.

So today I was looking at the calendar and realized that it has been eleven weeks and two days of no smoking. It has also been eleven weeks and two days of replacing cigarettes with food. The scales show it. My clothes show it. How I feel shows it. So, I shot my own portrait. Alone in the studio on a cold, dreary day I set up the tripod, turned on a couple of lights, set the timer and fired off four frames. Here’s the fourth frame. In eleven weeks and two days I’ll do another self portrait to see how things have improved. It’s time to lose the weight that I’ve gained …. and I’m ready.

I know this isn’t my traditional type of post, but my clients share a lot with me. As such, it’s only fair that I share some of me with them. Real, honest, me. I cannot wait to update this post with the new me when I reach my goal.
