Russell & Erin ~ Engagement Shoot

I had the pleasure of photographing Russell’s sister’s wedding last year. Josh and Karla were an amazingly striking couple to photograph. Now, I get to photograph Russell and Erin next Spring. This past Sunday we went to one of the local nature trails to find some Fall color. We found it. More than that though, we had a great time and ended up with some beautiful photographs of the two of them.

Here’s a couple of samples.

I’m looking forward to joining them on their wedding day because they were so easy to work with and seem to be totally at ease in front of the camera.

and one black and white…

Brandon & Stephanie ~ Texarkana, AR (and TX)

Texarkana is one of those towns that keeps me wondering which state I’m in. I started the day off at my hotel room in Texas then moved on to the Bride’s house in Arkansas. The ceremony was in Arkansas then back to Texas for the reception. I was simply confused half the night. I guess if you live there, you get used to it though. Regardless of which state I happened to be in at any given moment, I was guaranteed to be having a great time.

Stephanie and Brandon both celebrate life with a rich Cajun history and their reception was proof of the beautiful cooking that their heritage takes pride in. The ceremony was incredibly beautiful. The venue was St. Edward’s in Texarkana. What an amazingly beautiful church. The windows, the alter and the old wooden pews added up to a magnificent place for their wedding to take place.

I’m posting three photographs from their wedding in hopes of keeping them and their families satisfied until I finish their entire gallery. There are going to be several hundred beautiful photos for them to go through.

Thanks for allowing me to be part of your wedding day. I wish you two a lifetime of happiness together.

It’s a busy time

I’ve been at the computer a lot lately. When not on the computer, editing wedding photos, I’ve been on the road to shoot. October and November are becoming the new June. I’m amazed every year how busy the Autumn is….. and I’m not sure why I continue to be amazed, as it happens every year.

So, I thought I’d post a few thoughts about the next few weeks coming up.

Every year after the holiday season I receive a ton of phone calls from couples who are looking for a photographer. Some times these are couples that I have spoken with previously and some are new contacts. It never fails that somebody will call back to reserve their date, only to find out that it has already been reserved by another couple. So, I’d like to urge those who are considering reserving their wedding date to not wait until the January rush. After the holiday season there are a lot of newly engaged couples who are looking as well. It really breaks my heart when I’ve spent time getting to know a bride and groom and then find out that they were not able to get their date reserved with me. I do, however, try my hardest to assist them in finding another photographer who can meet their needs as well.

Now that October is about to come to an end I’m looking back over this past year and the couples who have shared their wedding day with me. It’s been an incredible year. I’ve been fortunate enough to recently have two bridesmaids from this year’s weddings, book their date with me. That makes me feel great. To know that they were comfortable enough with me and were loved my work enough to want to use me for their wedding.

Anyway, have a great Autumn and get busy planning your weddings.

Nick & Rachel ~ Little Rock, Arkansas

So tonight as I’m preparing to head out in the morning for tomorrow’s wedding I’m going through some of last weeks photos. Normally, I post a couple, but for now I’m only posting one, due to time constraints.

Nick and Rachel had one of the most energetic wedding parties I’ve seen in a long time. The dancing at their reception seemed to go on for ever. I don’t know how some of them were able to keep going. The band, The Hipnecks, were absolutely fabulous. They were one of the reasons the crowd kept partying. The energy level was crazy. Plus, the night was made even better when Nick took the mic and sang to his new wife. That was beyond cool.

Anyway, just wanted to take the time to say thank you to Nick, Rachel and all of their friends & family for making me feel like one of the group. I can’t wait to finish up your gallery so you can see the hundreds of resulting photos. Hopefully this one will do for now. In a few days I’ll post at least on more here for you to see.

ok, couldn’t leave it. I had to add one of Nick at the microphone along with one of the band members.

Matt & Leah ~ Harrison, Arkansas

Last Saturday I had the honor of photographing Matt and Leah’s wedding.  The day gave us extremely nice weather and really some nice opportunities for great photography.  The couple was really willing to play and have some fun, which is one of my favorite things about wedding photography.

The wedding ceremony was very pretty and I was given a litte more freedom to move about the sanctuary than I am normally allowed which gave me the positioning to get shots of Leah’s face during the vows.   Being able to watch the emotions on her face really brought home how much these two are in love.

Anyway, I’m posting a couple of photos from their wedding.  The first is of Matt and Leah lighting their unity candle and the second is not the type I normally post on my blog.  Leah’s father sang during the ceremony and his voice was beautiful.  So, I had to share a shot of him singing.  So skilled.  So talented.

I wish Matt and Leah the best in their future together.

Kevin & Leah ~ Batesville, AR

I began our day together while Leah was having her hair done and spent 5 wonderful hours with her and her friends & family.  Watching as Kevin saw Leah for the first time in her wedding gown, you could see he was seriously in love.  Their entire party allowed me to get very close and we ended up with some amazing photographs due to the access I was given.  I can’t wait for them to see all of their photographs.

The car they drove away in was almost as incredible as the couple…. but not quite.
